ACTRA, Canadian Ad Industry Reach Tentative Settlement

The Association of Canadian Advertisers and the Institute of Communication Agencies have reached tentative terms of settlement with ACTRA to renew the National Commercial Agreement, which covers the engagement of performers in all television, radio and digital English commercial production in Canada.

The deal includes provisions that eliminate performance step-up fees for commercials moving over from television to digital media, and introduces a pilot project to address low budget digital productions. It also addresses the need for extensive versions of an online production.
The current NCA expired June 30, 2017. The new agreement commences upon ratification and will conclude June 30, 2020. ACTRA Members will vote to ratify the tentative agreement by online referendum. Voting will commence this week and close on August 4. ACA and ICA ratification is conducted through a vote by their respective Boards’.
